A Day Trip to Malibu

Since June is my birthday month, my husband planned an entire month full of activities. One of those being a day trip to Malibu filled with food and wine – my favorite! Since we went on a Monday holiday (Juneteenth), traffic to LA from Orange County wasn’t as bad. And when I mean wasn’t as bad, I mean it only took us about an hour and a half versus 2 1/2 hours lol

We started the day with a late lunch at Nobu Malibu. It’s known for its Japanese and Peruvian fusion cuisine and Nobu Malibu specifically is most popular for its beachfront ambiance. A couple tips you should know before heading there for lunch is that you need to call to make a reservation and reservations must be made up to 1 month in advance because these slots fill up quick! Jeff said, he called when the phone lines opened at 10AM and he was already 15th in line. Luckily 10AM isn’t too early, so get on those phone lines around 9:40-9:45AM to ensure you’ll get a spot.

Here are all of the things we ate:

Since it was our first time we wanted to try a variety of their offerings since they have menu items exclusive to the Malibu location. Portions are small, but this surprisingly ended up being the perfect amount for Jeff and I. Everything was delicious and I would order again, except I would probably skip on the wagyu tacos next time. Service was great and staff was very attentive at this location. They even have blankets for you in case you get cold! Overall, the food and ambiance was a great experience, but it came at a steep price (ended up being $624 for the two of us).

After Nobu, we stopped by a little shopping center, Malibu Country Mart, just a few minutes drive away. They have shopping (stores like Vuori, Paige, & Brandy Melville) and more food. I ended up stopping at Gorjana to find a bracelet to pair with my tennis bracelet. I love their fine jewelry collection since most of their pieces are dainty, and I ended up going with the 14k gold parker mini bracelet.

To end the night, we headed over to Cielo Farms Winery to spend the rest of the evening and watch the sunset. The winery had live music and an outdoor lawn area with plenty of seating. I got the White Rabbit Flight since I prefer white wine over red wine and the cured meats and cheese board to share. The day was a perfect date day and I got to spend some much needed quality time with my husband <3.
