A Few of my Travel Essentials

Over the last few years of traveling with my husband, I’ve learned what I need to pack to keep me sane, organized, and comfy throughout my trip. Whether you are traveling for just a weekend or for a week, you’ll find yourself reaching to pack these items every time! Here are my favorite travel items (all items linked in the item name):

1. Travel slippers. I have no idea why it took me so long to purchase a pair, but if you are someone who gets THE ICK when walking around the hotel room/air bnb/vrbo etc. then you NEED a set of travel slippers! Even if you are someone who doesn’t care so much about what’s on the floor, travel slippers are just way more comfortable than walking around in your socks or barefoot. I purchased these ones because they are affordable, comfortable, and won’t take up much space in your suitcase.

2. Portable charger. This is one that I probably should have bought a long time ago, but I just kept relying on the fact that most of the time there are plugs everywhere. It wasn’t until I was waiting to board my flight from Miami back to Los Angeles and noticed there were only 1-2 accessible plugs in the terminal! It was in that moment, in the hours of waiting for my flight, that I realized it is a smart idea to have a portable charger when traveling.

3. Pill organizer. As a nurse and a wife of a husband who ALMOST ALWAYS needs a tylenol or advil, or maybe even colace, a pill organizer is a no brainer. Being in different environments, flying in a plane, and eating different foods, you just never know what to expect. I like to keep advil, tylenol, tums, benadryl, zofran & colace on hand at the very least.

4. Noise cancelling earphones. My husband got me these for Christmas a couple years ago and I never travel without them! The noise cancelling is KEY to drowning out the ALL the plane noise. If I could I would sleep in them, but even though they fit nicely I still have a fear I’ll lose an earpiece from moving around so much.

5. Sleep mask. My eyelash extension girlies – LISTEN UP! This sleep mask will block out all the light AND protect your lashes, while you rest peacefully. I’ve had eyelash extensions for 6 years now and I always avoided wearing a sleep mask because I never wanted to get them ruined or smooshed, especially after paying all that money for them (iykyk). This mask blocks out the light so well and is adjustable! I got the one that comes in a pack of 2 to keep the 1st one for home and the 2nd for travel.

6. Cable organizer. With the increase in all things technology, this has helped me prevent the cluttered and entangled mess that easily happens when packing. My toothbrush, phone, travel mirror, apple watch, camera, the list goes on….all have a charger. A plus is that this organizer will also hold your portable battery as well!

7. Comfy loungewear. I am not the type to wear jeans on the plane, occasionally leggings, but sweatpants are the ultimate pants to wear when traveling. I once wore jean shorts when I was traveling to Hawaii and never again lol I was cold, uncomfortable, and I don’t like my skin touching the airplane seat. As a shortie, I prefer the slim, jogger look when it comes to sweat pants. These sweatpants are super cute but also still comfortable and thick enough for my liking.

8. Bluetooth transmitter. If you have the noise cancelling wireless earphones, do yourself a favor and get a bluetooth transmitter for the plane. Corded earphones are just not the same when you’re watching your tv shows and movies on the plane tv. I will say, don’t be like me and lose your first one – put it in your cord organizer for real. The first one I bought was a much smaller version and I was so sad when I misplaced it after our trip. This one is slightly larger, but light!

9. Travel blanket. My most favorite item on this list! I am someone who is literally always cold. The last flight I was wearing shorts, I was absolutely miserable because I was so cold. I told myself, I need to be better prepared next time – and in comes the travel blanket. So simple, yet so effective at making me a much more happy and comfortable traveling girly. Plus, this not only doubles as a pillow but slides right on to your suitcase handle so you don’t have to worry about carrying it in your arms or taking up space in your back pack around the airport.

10. Jewelry organizer. I put off buying a jewelry organizer until it came time for my wedding. I knew my wedding day was not a day I wanted to deal with tangled necklaces, bracelets, etc. Plus, I wanted everything in one place to make it easy to find everything. A wedding is stressful enough, and so is traveling, so staying as organized as you can even for the small things is so helpful!

11. Travel light up mirror. I was influenced on this one during my bachelorette weekend amidst a night out with the girls. I had 7 bridesmaids. So if you can imagine, 8 girls trying to find a mirror with good lighting to get ready LOLOL. I think there were only 2 bathrooms with a mirror in each and 1 near the entrance. Besides the limited mirrors for a group setting, I also realized there may not always be the good lighting you need while doing your makeup.

12. Travel bottles (shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc.). Gone are the days when I used to buy a new travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. everytime…..Like whyyyyyyy?! especially when I already had full size products I know I like and use. This pack has everything you need including little spatulas and containers for your face cream. Save your money and stop buying travel size items and instead buy travel size containers!

13. Toiletry bag. Honestly, I just like the size and shape of this one to hold everything perfectly. I also like that it’s clear so you know immediately what’s inside. I initially used this as my emergency kit for my wedding since you can see where everything is at, but this quickly was added to my travel essentials whenever I pack. I prefer this over using multiple toiletry bags.

That’s all for now! I hope you guys found some new items to add to your own travel essentials. 🙂
